Introducing the Beta Release of Instill AI

Today we are excited to announce the beta release of Instill AI — a powerful chat-driven platform that makes it easy for knowledge workers to unlock value from any unstructured data. The first batch of early adopters has officially joined us on this next phase of our journey.

Why we build Instill AI?

Since its launch in 2022, Instill Core — our open-source AI infrastructure project — has helped developers and AI builders construct unstructured data pipelines, host open-source deep learning models, and manage AI-ready data formats for retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) and beyond. It has supported millions of pipeline runs across a diverse set of AI use cases, including customer support chatbots, image tagging, video captioning, audio transcription, document parsing and even stomata phenotyping analysis.

After three years of building in the AI infrastructure space and watching the generative AI ecosystem evolve rapidly, we now see the future of data and AI applications taking shape in two dominant patterns:

• Workflow automation powered by LLMs for generative tasks
• LLM-generated workflows for deterministic automation tasks

To support this future, we needed a new paradigm — a unified platform where generative and deterministic workflows seamlessly intersect. That’s where Instill AI comes in.

Instill AI is designed to be that bridge: integrating agentic, generative workflows with traditional automation (data ingestion, preparation, ETL, RPA). While the UI/UX has evolved significantly, we continue to support the core primitives — Pipelines, Models, and Artifacts — through robust API-first interfaces.
